VIDEO: PH testing for Biochar trials

Testing the three elements I plan to use for the potting mix for the biochar trials. Peat, compost/potting soil and worm castings mixed with biochar. I am also testing the worm castings without biochar as well.

  1. Great video. I admire the people that takes time to give their plants the best. Maybe because I'm a new gardener I find it confusing. I usually check them for disease, leaf coloring and I try to make sure that I don't over watering them and the rest hope for the best. lol. Please let me know if you had any problem with this comment..

  2. @***** Good work Jay. I went to Rhinfelden just over the Swiss border in Germany today, I got some more seed and kokohum for my mix. Looked all over but could not find an electronic tester. I will keep looking. I also got an air pump for making tea or hydro dont know yet or both lol.  I realy want to grow alot of good food this year. I saw some strip light bulbs to in toom for fish tanks with plants I might invest in some but 25 euros each. Dave;-)

  3. That's very interesting, Jay. My soil here is just slightly acidic. I don't know that I would want it more alkaline as the plants are doing well at the level they are at. Now, at the back of my garden, I've had to bring soil in as it was quite low and gets boggy in the summer. My usual wood chip source isn't available right now. I will have to test that soil back there to see where it stands. There could be a need for biochar there.

  4. Looking very good Jay, this is interesting and I wish I could be doing this trial with you all right now (there's always summer)! I'm more and more convinced that I need to get using biochar… 🙂
