  1. I try to rip the base of those pellets jay to let the roots out.. Looks like they will be going into a nice blend as well..  The tiller sounds like a smart purchase to me Jay.. Any chance you could rent it & your time out for coin or barter ?
You should be getting something in the next week or so as well… Sorry I've been a bit slack mate :/

  2. Sometimes the rate of return is being able to use a piece of equipment when you need it. Of course this is only one part and has to be weighed up against other considerations.
It looks like you are getting a great start on your spring plantings there.

  3. Wow, that`s an early outside planting! 🙂
I agree this winter has been strange! It started up with really heavy snowfalls for weeks. Then it turned mild, and the amounts of rain we received in the lowlands since then, have been unbeliveable. (in higher areas snow debth is 3-4 meters.)
The strangest thing is that we`ve only had one single day with sunshine this winter!!
The weather centre recond Its been the cloudiest winter for over 160 years. I belive them, because I cant remembers such a dark winter. need some light now…
    Hope your plantings do good.

Know the feeling with not catching up with all the videoes and updates around. I am behind as well, due to many things that happened here the last 6 months. Just been through a breakup on top of it all,  as well, and have to get into new daily rutines to get things moving on.

    Best wishes,
    Halvor.

  4. It looks like you have very good soil now for those plants. They should thrive for you. I think buying that tiller is an excellent idea. Not only will you be able to take care of your own tilling needs, but help others with their's. Hopefully, it will bring some extra money and or exchange of goods/barter. That skating rink was a stupid waste of money.

  5. You're kidding Jay, we're still under 2 foot of snow here and it's going arctic again this week. I can't wait to get some plants going though, thinking about starting some more onions from seed. I'm surprised to see how green it looks there.

  6. some farmers around here got caught in that trap a few years ago.  Weather went mild thru the winter and allowed field work to happen 2 full months before 'normal'  They worked the ground, applied their preps, and got everythign ready for planting.  The bad thing they did was plant long before the regular dates.   Their fields got zapped by normal wintertime weather and they had to replant. I'm talking about over a hundred acres of field crops.  lost .    There are indicator plants in your area,  IE Lilac bushes are in full bloom when morel mushrooms are ready to be found.  Maple trees will have leaves the size of squirrels ears.  That is when you should be planting your field corn.  There are plants in your area that will serve as indicators for different things too.
