VIDEO: Transplanting Climbing Beans for High Growth and Yields

Beans are one of the highest yielding plants to have in a garden and in this video I demonstrate how we transplant the bean seedlings to ensure healthy growth. For building a bean structure use this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U31vg2I5K8E

Important measurements:
Trenches 1 foot apart (30cm)
Trenches 6 inches deep (15cm)
2-3 inches of compost (5-7.5cm)
Space between plants 4 inches (10cm)

Bean varieties:
Runner Bean – Enorma
French Climbing Bean – BLAUHILDE
Kidney Bean

  1. great idea with the compost   doing that with my second crop of Kentucky Wonder pole beans   working in garden all day tomorrow   its Independence Day   sorry its when we told old George III  hey you idiot get the h… out of town  LOL   best wishes Huw from the former colonies   still marveling over that sturdy looking structure   great job

  2. I tried growing beetroot under beans but it failed. May have been because back then the garden was not so fertile as now. I grew three marigold plants under my beans, one at each end and one in the middle. I was told it stopped blackfly and we had no blackfly and plenty of beans, so that is one thing which works…..beetroot did ok on the morning side of the sticks last year: planted seedlings out end of May and they are still harvesting now…..

  3. Can we plant the seedlings directly into the ground? And would that structure work for borlotti beans? Thanks for all the help you provide to beginners 🙂
