We have transferred our homegrown ducklings into the main duck pen. It has been very successful! Here is how I always introduce new animals on the farm. Enjoy & thanks for watching! xo

  1. OK…LAND DUCKS.  HERMIT HENS. I MAY BE DUMB AS A POST; BUT, BEING A BLIND MARINE…I DONT FEEL LIKE AN ODDBALL ANYMORE. "…A PURPOSE FOR EVERYTHING, UNDER HEAVEN.". OK…I'M GOOD NOW. THANKS MA'AM.

  2. They are all cute as a button! Do you plan on selling ducks/chickens in the near future? I'm only 2 hours from you & would be interested in purchasing a duck as a pet & for the eggs. I've never raised a duck! I'm also looking for a reliable, trusted person like you to puchase my future chickens. I don't do meat chickens, I just love the eggs (I'm addicted to eggs whites, my dogs get the yokes, lol).

  3. Hi Patera, Just got 4 ducks. Enjoying them very much! Having a hard time keeping poop smell down…lol
There is a big difference over my chickens! Any advice on controlling wet poopy mess in coop and run? I clean out duck coop everyday but odour is pretty potent!

  4. After acclimating my chickens in side by side pens, I've added the new birds to the coop at night after everyone has settled in for the night. Not sure if it works for ducks.

  5. i too am a real fan of the ducks. but…all ducks are not created equal. Khakis are probably the easiest. I'm partial to Welsh Harlequins & have a Royal Palm turkey raising 5 Welsh Harlequin ducklings right now. lots of differing ways to raise ducks. your arrangement is probably the simplest & safest (predator proof).

  6. I recently got two female Pekin and two Ruen females on our mini Hobby Farm. They share a 15'x15' run with 9 chickens. The ducks have their own dog barn. So far so good, eggs in December. So excited. Love my ducks. Thanks for sharing your story.

  7. At what age can I put a female duck (she’s 3 months old) and an adult male (he’s 1 1/2 years old). She was bought to be his mate. I have also another male and female that have already bonded that we’re bought with the other female. I bought three to be sure I had a female and was very happy to have two females. I wanted three, but it’s a hard purchase when you can’t get an accurate sexing at the store.
I was thinking about putting the female with the other male and keeping the mated male and female together in the tractor next to the pin for a few weeks, maybe months to allow for a good bonding to happen for both couples.
Any thoughts or suggestions? This is my first time having to do this.
