  1. Oh Lea! I am so sorry to hear this! I would have to have a talk with the neighbor and bill him for the loss. Please keep us updated on any Quail that are returned. I am grieving with you. -Nina

  2. I'm sorry to hear this.. what a sad annoying and needless trauma. I had chickens 40, and a weasel got into my coop the day after I released my new chicks to the hens. He killed all the babies.. I was devastated.. It's so hard to deal with such brutality. =( I do wish you well

  3. That's a down side to the plastic fencing. We had the same issue with raccoons and opossums in the past. We keep an electric fence at knee level around or pens when we keep caged animals. Hate to hear your hard work was destroyed by a roaming animal.

  4. I know how you feel I felt the same way…we have dog, 2 cats, and 52 chickens now….once in while my dog get wild and try to attack our chicken area but have not kill any of them yet..we lost some out flock to fox and hawk…I never saw quail coop box before..great setup with medal fence…love your pond setup…we always learn how to build a better layout for our furry friends after bad drama like this…but we learned

  5. OH NO!!! I'm so sorry to hear this hun.  :'(  I hope you are going to go talk to your neighbors about replacements and damages with a stern warning to keep their dog at home. If you don't, you'll likely find yourself in this position again in a couple days.  Now that the dog has had it's fun, it'll most definitely be back. 🙁  We went and got electric wire to put around the base and the middle of our chicken run for this exact reason. Unfortunately stuff can happen.  I hope y'all find more of your quail babies and are able to get everything sured up a bit better. 🙂 Big hugs….

  6. I'm sorry this happened and you had to dispatch the injured chickens. We had neighbor dog issues here as well. I repeatedly told them to keep their dogs off our property and they just laughed. After two missing chickens I threatened that I had the right to protect my pets and if I caught them in the act I'd turn into Annie Oakley. We haven't seen the dogs since. My man is the peacemaker but I'm not so kind. I hope you find more quail. They sell vinyl coated hardware cloth. Get a roll just for the bottom of their pens. It cleans well with a brush.

  7. sorry to hear the bad news,,ive had that happen before,,its sickening to come out an see all the dead bodies,,i gave a thumbs up,,not because i liked what happened,,

  8. Rebuild/Re-enforce and keep moving forward is all we can do…
Hopefully the dog won't be back… if he does, if you let him live, send him home with a chicken tied around his neck…
    Have a good'nnn

  9. Oh! This is so heartbreaking! Oh what sweet neighbors to bring over the quail they found… oh you know who's dog did it – did you talk to the owners? Are they going to reimburse you for the damage he did – oh Im so sorry – this is just so sad.

  10. Oh Lea I am so sorry this happened friend! Hope you find out who the owner is, because this time it was the sweet animals but what if next time it is a human baby. We pet owners need to be responsible for our furry four legged kids.
