  1. Your Garlic looks good, Ive always been told its actually better for you when it sprouts because its higher in Antioxidants. We cut each clove piece down the middle and remove the sprout then cut up the rest of the clove and put it into olive oil and use it first. You can also cut up the green part of the sprout and use them but its a little bitter to me. But its all good. Why it happens I really don't know sorry about that part but I'll ask the old farmers around me. Great job growing all that. God Bless

  2. I planted garlic for the first time in the fall and have no idea when garlic is supposed to be harvested, guess I better look that up soon. Thanks for sharing so I hopefully won't do the same thing. Your garden looks great, the little sunflower is so pretty. I have a snake living in my garden this year too. Like you, I don't mind the snake but I don't like to be surprised by it either, lol.

  3. Lea, you are the best one-handed gardener I have seen yet! I really appreciate your integrity in showing something that was less than successful, and the willingness to ask for help from others. Sorry the Garlic harvest was disappointing for you, but I am sure you will learn something and be more successful next year. But my favorite part is that you were going to talk it over with Al!

  4. you are doing great, it is not a mistake you made…naturally grow itself because it wet soil….what I would do with that sprouts is to detached them and plant them back in the ground. You will have more garlic next couple weeks…LOL…love growing garlics…in my opinion you can never do wrong growing garlic… just what would you preferred..large gloves or small gloves

  5. thanks for the video. much respect for keeping it real. i grow garlic but our climates are so unique that what I know may not apply. one guess about the market garlic is that they were grown in a different climate and that wasn't matched up. I have very little luck with store garlic but I sure as darn will keep trying. the other garlic look like they may need more time. i grow hardneck and usually wait until 5th or 6th leaves from the bottom have dried. ..I am close to harvesting mine but I am very worries that my winter was too mild. always nice to see that snake.

  6. my garlic is doing the exact thing. went and looked after your video. ours was store bought 2 years ago done fine last year. we had warm in January it started growing then got cold in the teens.. I personally think it was our weather. warm, cold, warm, cold, flood, heat. plants are confused here. just in case I will be more careful now what I plant. as the garlic is an investment in time for sure. thanks great video Q and informative. thank you htgde.

  7. Thanks for sharing, it is all probably usable. I have only grown once before and mine died of early and was half the size of your second planting. So no advice to offer but appreciate the video and your subs feedback. Splitting them and replanting some of them might be worth a try. Thanks again Leah and have a great day. 🙂

  8. Still a nice little garlic harvest!! Not sure on the garlic, but now you know to watch them better next year i reckon? Mmm snake and greenbeans heh!! I know nothing about garlic except its good and i use it in a lot of things i cook lol!!
    Have a good'nnn

  9. I've had this happen before (usually when it's been left in too long or got too damp from very wet weather) and I've used it. Tastes fine (obviously not the best tasting home grown garlic, but it's okay). I've used it also as a deterrent against pests – ie left it in the ground to ward off "evil spirits" ( pests) and to throw them off the scent of nice veg I want to protect – sometimes it seems to work – or maybe it's just coincidence! I sometimes crush it and make it into a spray which I use on things like goji berry bushes and it seems to have got rid of infection (or maybe that is coincidence, too!). It very rarely gets just thrown away – I always find some use for it – so not a complete disaster. I think it's important to share our experiences when things don't go to plan, so thanks for that Lea.
