Vegetable arches offer an incredibly efficient – and attractive – way to grow sprawling or vining vegetables such as squashes, beans and cucumbers.

When you don’t have much growing space it makes sense to train your vegetables upwards.

In this short video we’ll show you how to make a very simple vegetable arch that’s perfect for creating a beautiful, edible focal point to your garden.

  1. Thanks for the video. I just put an arch together yesterday and was wondering what next?! Do you know if uchi kuri or crown Prince squashes are vigorous enough to climb arches?

  2. one of the prettiest arches I've seen yet. So many look good with the a fully grown vine but just look like trash until it's grown in. I don't want to see that in my yard. Thanks.

  3. I used these light weight arches for my the peas and the sweet peas …just twisted chicken wire to the sides to give more surface for the plant to grip… worked amazingly well!

  4. I make concrete feet for my arches. Simply half-fill four medium-sized plastic pots with gravel, drop in the feet, and fill with cement. when dry, bury. Makes moving the arch much easier! Gives it great stability.

  5. hi ther do you know what gauge wire. you used are can you recommend a gauge thats suible for growing cucumber small pumpkins best wishes ken. also I was thinking of using a polly tunnel for the arch and then adding the wire to it but want to make sure the wire is strong

  6. Many thanks for sharing. May I ask how long did it last and was the arches rust free long term. I am looking to use these impairs and tied as yours to grow kiwi berries. Many thanks
