  1. When you said math and germination rate I was thinking "I totally he hopes he picks 90 percent". If you picked 80-20 you would have looked like a wizard to us all. Awesome!

  2. I planted some seeds from a Burpee bean packet. Two different plants emerged: 1. A tall stalk like plant shown in the first 3-8 pictures. 2. The 9th photo shows an actual bean plant that is producing beans. The other photos are cucumbers etc. Can anyone identify the tall stalk plant? Here is a link to a You tube video of the mystery plant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvmOReQsRAs&t=0s

  3. We just found your channel. Wow this will help get the soil right. Our slogan is "It all begins with the soil". We subscribed to you. We are Jim and Rhenda with Heartiness Approach. Take a look at our channel and subscribe if you like it. Thanks.

  4. Hey Kevin! I was doing some reading on your website and really like some of the information you portrayed. Thanks a bunch for the help!

  5. Screw it, from now on, it's personally going to be minimum three seeds per planting spot, more if they're tiny like a punctuation mark. No more hemming and hawing with single seed per spot like I did before.

Packets are 2-3$ with often seeds in excess. I swear I have monarda fistulosa and it says "1000 seeds with 72% germination rate" so you can bet your gardening butt that I'm going to put 5-10 in the ground.

Might as well stack our odds and play the law of average just like nature does with her millions of seeds spread out.

    Thanks for the green push!

  6. good explanation but its useless if you dont know that exact germination rate of the plant you are trying to grow? 9/10 is just your example.

  7. Perhaps a silly question, but if I didn't plant enough seeds the first time around in my small pot, although I'm getting some germination, can I just plant more seeds in that same soil next to to those germinating? The herbs are germinating but not growing fast enough (several weeks with very little growth). I've planted basil, cilantro and chives. Thanks in advanced for your input!

  8. Beginner Gardner here, love your content. I was curious, I have used this methods and have some cells with 2 seedlings sprouting, healthy looking plants (2 weeks old). Could I transplant one of those plants to another cell or should I just snip it like you stated here.
    Thanks for the time!

  9. Hello Kevin. Just discovered your channel. I have the opposite problem. I planted some lettuce seed and put way too many in each hole so now I have a lot of little seedlings in each cell and don’t know how to thin them? In one cell I have I have a least 30 seedlings. Should I kill 29 and leave just one?

  10. Your videos have helped me so much. Last year I had a giant tomato bush. But they were all i was growing anyways. This year I plan on doing much more.
