Our fruit trees were crushed under a large fallen branch from a huge fig and my mission was to remove the debris and save the fruit trees – I named it “Operation Fruit Tree Rescue…”

Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started SSM in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

Oh that's great news! Glad all your fruit trees were spared Mark. 😉
SMEAC, I love it. Same 5 paragraph format we use. What was your MOS (or Aussie equivilant?)
great work saving the fruit trees mark !! metal ?? i see you more as a bluegrass fan
Isn’t it amazing how resilient some trees are? They can take a knock down, bend almost double, & straighten out again! Glad to see, that you didn’t have too much damage! Keep a smile on!
I noticed the rain stopped…after you were done. Figures! Good job Garden Guardian! 🙂
Where's your chainsaw chaps?
Love your vids
Loved this video! Too cute!
beautiful nature
Be careful with your fruit tree trimming. We screwed ours up and then learned the simple premise — trim in the fall for more growth, in the early spring for more fruit, and in the summer if you want no growth and hard little fruits that won't ripen. It takes a whole year to undo the mess we made with ours. Beware! (We are in a heavy tree area complete with Texas storms that love to crack down all those oaks — that crash on our fruit trees)
heavy metal? oh shit
I had an army band piccolo solo playing in the back of my head while watching this video.
Job will done.
is that a weeping fig?
I was wondering when you would break out more of the doctrine. Keep it up!
I wouldn't want to use Bluetooth earmuffs. They would cause cancer for sure!!
Use electric machines, man!
Loved this vid! Thanks for sharing.
Every branch of that tree is a forest . . .
