The best pans I have ever cooked on have been my great grandmothers cast iron from the mid 1800s. If you can find them snatch them up and never let them out of your sight! Remember to make sure your kids know the value and importance of your heritage cast iron.
you are an old sole you should of been born 100 years ago I am 52 and grew up eating from nothing but cast iron I tried using it but ended up using the new non stick pans I didn't care for the idea of them sitting around with oil on them I don't have children and some of my pans sit for months without being used didn't want to get sick from some bacteria sitting on them. If I had children and used them regularly I wouldn't be concerned they worked fine and know how to keep seasoned.
I love using cast iron. Every time I use it, I see my Momma in my mind's eye cooking all her delicious meals for us when we were little (that and her Magnalite!) Lol One of her pans was her mom's that she got when she got married in the 40s. The seasoning on that pan is gorgeous!
we love cast iron too! love love love!
love it even if its heavy,, my friends complain about it lol..
My husband loves cast iron too
I love my cast iron Dutch oven. I also can’t afford the super fancy one, but I got mine on sale at Walt mart. I am waiting for it to go on sale again so I can buy a second one because I do not want to cook on anything else
Wow I’m learning so much from your channel! I bought an Emeril cast iron pan when I first got married, years ago. It rusted and I threw it out thinking I’d ruined it ☹️. After this video I’m ready to give cast iron another shot. Thank you!
I have dreaded trying to use cast iron. I am a dishwasher girl thru and thru. I just ordered my first lodge pan ❤
I would love to see a video where you show how to take an old rusted cast iron pan and restore it!
Don't know how to cook without cast iron!
Can you use cast iron for cooking everything? What are things that you can't use it for?
I love my vintage cast iron. My "bar" is that if I feel the inside and know that it's going to be glass smooth–no matter where it comes from–I buy it. I season with organic flax oil because you can take it to 500 degrees… it gets INCREDIBLY hard and makes a great seasoning. (flax is also known as linseed as in "lin"oleum). Tough stuff. Cleaning the rust off can be tricky… I often use "easy off" to clean cast iron that is new to me. But once it's cleaned and seasoned, it's good for YEARS! I love it!!!
I love my Lodge Cast Iron pans.
My coating keeps flaking off 🙁
I don’t use soap and I do re-oil.
JESSE Do you have any Cast Iron Sauce Pots or Dutch Ovens? I have several Cast Iron Skillets from very large to small plus a 10" griddle but looking to get more
Not only is cast iron awesome, but so is carbon steel. Both of them need seasoning and and care but are basically indestructible. I'm in the process of switching everything in my kitchen to these as my "fancy" pans need replacing.
We use about 75% cast iron and 25% stainless steel and I LOVE it!!!!
I swear my cast iron pans add soul to my food, so much flavor and texture.
I LOVE my cast iron! My grandmother gave me hers and I still use them! I bought the Tramontina from Walmart.com and LOVE it too! Great presentation on why cast iron is the best cookware! ❤️
I bought my cast iron pans because they are oven safe and sturdy. And I can bake Chicago style deep dish pizza in them. Also, I get tired of having to brown food in a fry pan on top of the stove then having to transfer the food to a baking dish so it can go in the oven.
I feel like you would be more popular than Rachel ray even. U need your own show. People. All people need to hear your voiceand what you have to say about growing food for your family.
I only use cast iron to cook in and I don't wash mine lol just wipe them out if I need to, love love love cast iron!!!
You showed that line of pans and I literally thought I have and love all of those
Okay. I need another one. lol
Kinda late to this party, but…no need for scrubbing when reconditioning a pan. Just put it in oven upside down and run oven self-clean cycle. This will take it down to raw iron.
Love my cast iron! It's what I have primarily used for the past decade. I gave away all but 1 skillet when we RV traveled full time. I am looking forward to rebuilding my collection.
Wondering about the elderly using cast iron. I had read that once post menopause, it can actually be dangerous for women to consume foods made in cast iron as the iron would build up to above healthy levels.
