  1. Is there a difference in heat retention between a caterpillar tunnel that is lower to the ground and one that has straight sides and is taller? Does a tunnel that is raised up higher stay warmer or vice versa?

  2. Great tunnel! Really like the straight sides! With the top purlin and the side braces though, couldn't you skip the last hoop on an angle and have an endwall like Steadfast Farm has?

  3. NEWS FLASH! It turns out that our new tools/supply company will probably be the ones selling these later in the year. We don't have pricing or details just yet, but we'll be offering the very best caterpillar tunnels European wide at the right price. We've got all pieces made in EU now, and people can register interest via our Ridgedale Permaculture website contact form and I can keep them informed. We will be able to have them up and running before next season. Thanks for making this Curtis, nice explanation. We've finally got our irrigation installed in them all too, people can see on our channel in the latest videos…

  4. First tunnels are great tunnels. its worth getting a catalogue Curtis, not just tunnels but a thousand accessories to go with from fabrics, watering and misting systems etc. Also quite good for price too. whether it's a small tunnel for the garden or a large commercial tunnel plus everything inbetween, they do the lot. They diagonal braces and solid ridge are standard here and add a huge amount of strength esp in areas that suffer hih winds.

  5. There is an ad running prior to your vids. from NRDC on the "plight" of the honey bee. Nothing could be farther from the truth than the "facts" they spout in the ad. Please, if you are going to get involved in beekeeping do so with someone who is actually running a significant number of hives – not a hobbyist who only has a few hives and is just parroting the passion from the Eco-Activist fringe left. Really – the bees are fine – they are doing great. Since 2006 when an Eco-Activist "journalist" coined the term CCD – Colony Collapse Disorder – there has been a 50% increase in the number of managed bee colonies in the United States. BTW – commercial beekeepers manage 98%+ of the total colonies in the US. Hobbyists, who by and large tend to migrate towards the Eco-Activist crowd, manage less than 2% of the honeybee colonies in the US.

  6. If your are in Benelux of France, there is Bruneel Serren in Diksmuide who make storm proof tunnels in a super fast and easy kit.
I will not make money from this post, but really like their construction (with removable front walls with doors) so no bunching up of plastic at the top.
up to 8m across is standard, 10m is possible, but they'll bend on site.
All in 1 piece bows for extra strength
