Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

  1. I've never been successful with growing onions and I live in a tropical climate. I guess I shouldn't have tried to grow them in full sun. Gonna give these tips a try and give it one last go.

  2. I never could grow onions. And they are so inexpensive at the market. BUT some onions at the store were making people sick. I stopped buying them and I’m going to try to grow them again. Thank you for the tips!
