  1. Hello from Northern Australia! I see that mindset from a lot of people. Take quail for instance. Quail need incubators to hatch. Birds or even animals that need that sort of help aren't sustainable. Why aren't these people getting into utility pigeons? They'll breed and brood their own offspring. No incubators needed. JMO. Cheers.

  2. "Don't work harder, work smarter", my mantra. My husband is now 83 and has slowed way down + some memory loss but I will move forward and we will have a good life. Work smarter–I can't do everything but I can do a lot. We have a great small house on five acres, but I need to build a car shed and chicken coop this Spring. Enjoying our life.

  3. This exactly what I've been thinking on, I have 4 kids, 6months, 5,8,&13, homeschooling the older 3, anywhere from 30-100 poultry (depends on time of year, meat and layers) and 11 dairy goats. We also do a lot of gardening. I love it but it's been almost 10 years ago that I quit nursing and started homesteading and I'm tired, the kids are older and want to do more things out of the house and babies take so much of your time. I've decided I need to cut back on the number of animals until my youngest is a couple years old and sleeping through the night, I can always scale up again then. But for now we all need a break, the kids are tired too, it's time to cut back a little and do some fun things together while they are still home. And keeping animals through winter in Alaska is especially brutal sometime. Anyway I didn't mean to go on and on but thank you, God bless.

  4. I absolutely love this, thank you!!! I’m an only parent with dogs, chickens, and a cat. My kids and I want more property, but until then we are making do. I definitely need to prioritize and decide what I need to do and don’t need to do on a regular basis. Thanks for helping me feel less guilty about what my family situation is and what we need to do. ❤️

  5. Pretty darn chilly, let's be honest cold, on our TN Homestead today. After a couple of cups of coffee I'm heading outside to make sure everyone has warm drinking water and grab some firewood to keep our house comfortable. Stay warm !
