That's an impressive Gourd Tunnel. Ridge Gourd is one of my favorites for 30 years. Very nice Indian curry and mouth-watering chutney can be cooked. I will try growing Ridge Gourd in the UK in my small garden. Thank you for the video.
Great build! I loved this idea, but after seeing all of the shade under there, I wondered if it might be better to stake the trellis on the insides of the beds, or at least in the middle somehow, so the tomatoes, onions, and carrots get more sun and direct light?

Hey Mark…I see you could live where I lived in Morayfield/Caboolture area…My kids are still in Burpengary and Dayboro…That stinky heat is why I left OZ…can't breathe for 8 months of the year in the humidity. Am going to build one of those square edged tunnels, right now. I just sat down, hunting for trellis ideas with my builders mesh from last year's mistakes I made with it…but that's how one learns! …I want to make a "shade house" for softer veg that can't stand full sun. We get 3 months of very hot weather here in North East Hungary, but thankfully, only one or two humid days a year, so this square tunnel will be fab! Can't wait now to get outside when winter ends soon.

If you are in a temperate area, like Perth, Wa, do you orientate your beds length ways north-south or east-west ?
I live in the states, do you think this trellis/tunnel would work well for Cucumber and other typical vine plants??

Hi Mark. I remember that in one your episodes/vlog you had suggested that you didn't particularly enjoy the bitter gourd. Try slicing them thin and deep frying them to a crip, with or without a batter coat – they are quite delicious! Ofcourse, scoop out the seeds/pith before slicing thin.
Thank you so much for this. I grew gourds for the first time this year in UK . I didn’t think I could . I placed 2 large wooden containers 6 foot by 3 foot with 6 ft trellis parallel to each. Other and connected the top with bamboo sticks and wire mesh on top.. I am growing bottle gourd, snake gourd and Ivy Gourd. Lucky enough to have good harvest however not so much for bitter gourd . Ridge Gourd seeds did not germinate. Grateful for any tips for germinating RidgeGourd. Thanks
