  1. thank you Patara, you always seem to hit me where I need it. Lately, i’m crying so easily,, my husband of 47 years is in middle stage of alzheimer’s. Life seems to be piling up!! People that should be here to help aren’t. Time to cowgirl up!! 2020 is going to be blessed with Gods help! Bless you Patara!

  2. This is something I have needed to do for a long time ( scoop them out ) ! You’re right , people that don’t live the lifestyle do not understand where you’re coming from. Not even at church. Thanks so much I needed to hear this and it has given me the courage I need to get my life on track . God Bless

  3. Hey Patara! oooooh, lovin that GP dog! I'm pickin up all you be layin down, sister. I decided years ago to be selective about the people I choose to let into my private life. And, I've learned the value of keeping my home my sanctuary. x, E.

  4. And THIS is why I ADORE you!!! I completely understand the time part, mine is so limited with being gone 2 weeks at a time…my body is crying out after 23 years of trucking..2020 is going to be the year I figure out what I want to be when I grow up..lol..I've cut most out this past year..onward and upward!! Preciate ya

  5. I have felt this pressure more and more over the last few years. As I have taken on a more home-centric lifestyle (including homesteading), I've found that I just do not have the "free" time that I used to–and people don't understand or "see" that. As I've had less and less time….people have had more and more needs from me and, although I want to help my family–I just can't meet all of the extra needs. My Mom's health has gotten/is getting worse over time and she needs someone to help her with almost everything now (appointments, house cleaning/laundry, groceries/cooking, home repairs, etc. It's hard because my husband, one daughter, and I are the only people that can help (within the family)…so she has had to resort to asking a friend to help out some too. This makes me feel terrible–that she has to ask someone else for help….but I realize more each day that it's WAYYYYY too much for me to cover. God help us all to do what we should for our families and friends….and not do ourselves in in the process. It's rough.

  6. Great minds must think a like! I felt at the end of September that I needed a break to get my thoughts in order so I went and visited my dad and made some lists to get stuff ready and done by the end of this year to be ready for 2020. No room for extra events, people or activities that are not contributing to my and my families health and well-being next year. If we get things set and ready now we will begin the spring on a healthier, happier note. You keep telling it like it is girl!!

  7. VERY good advice! Been there, done THAT! Our children are grown, they are raising their children and have their homes. So this year we aren't doing the BIG dinner. We've discussed this with our children and they are okay with it. We've decided to visit their homes and leave after eating, lol! It just sounds like a plan!

  8. I don't have a farm, but the subject matter still applies! Thanks for the reminder, it's easy for things (and people) to get in the way of what I need for me and mine. Love you Patara!
