Oooo girl! Thank you for this info. We just got our beds built and filled, so the next step is planting. Needless to say, as a first year gardener, I was getting a little to caught up in all this. There is already so many factors to take into account before adding in companion planting. I've watched SO many videos, and really enjoy yours.. I hope all grows well for all us gardeners this year!!!!
I planted borage in my garden many years ago, I've never planted it since but I've got lots of borage in my garden as it self-seeds everywhere. My bees love it.
Oh my gosh thank you for this!! This is my first garden and I resorted to a SPREADSHEET to keep track of all the diverse info — straight up contradictions in some cases. You’re the best!!
You are SUCH an inspiration! This is year two of my garden, and I tried to start a couple things from seed. I realize now I was woefully unprepared and uneducated about starting from seed and have been feeling down about it — AND overwhelmed by not knowing where to plant things and what to plant them with etc. Your videos are so real. I only hope I can be like you when I grow up.:D
Canadian girl here, and I'd often put on a toque and jacket at that temp, too. I really dislike being cold.
Lol! “Chronic rule follower” hahah. I’m the same. exact. way. Lol.
put the magnet on the chair I think 🙂
I ordered seeds from her too — I got a few kinds but one of them was Dancing with Smurfs that you spoke about — they sounded so good I had to plant them!
When my Grandson was of the age to be potty trained, he wanted no part of it. I was playing with him in the yard and saw him squirming and I said "Cole you have to pee? Pee on that tree"! Pretty much that did the trick and my Daughter was very grateful, till he took a dump in the front yard! Cole is now about to turn 24! ❤
9:26 Not just Roots and Refuge but anyway who grows regularly: How can I know when to move seedlings to a bigger pot? I mean in general for all vegetables I don't direct sow but more specifically, I have 5 arabica coffee trees that are about 4 inches tall in a starter pot about 4" deep, but I'm reluctant to take them out of their pot to see where the roots are in the soil – don't want to damage them? Will pulling them out and putting in new soil create any kind of "shock" to them? Am I worrying about nothing? lol Should I just pull them out (carefully) and check the roots to see if they're… what, bunching up at the bottom like they need more room? I don't even know what to look for, lol.
I companion plant with marigolds. It looks beautiful and really does deter the harmful insects.
My husband would definitely be peeing out in the open. He is a true country boy. As a youngin he was peeing off the front porch in town!
I'm one of those companion planting "rule" followers. Or I have been. It's been stressful indeed. Lol! I became a believer because of watching my own cabbages & tomatoes. Their rows were perpendicular and the closer they got to one another the smaller they were. I became a companion planter and have been careful & miserable ever since! And I'm not sure I have been a whole lot benefited, at all. I would have to do all the "holds" to prove it to myself now, because I'm as of now going to attempt to throw caution to the wind and turn over a new leaf! Thanks, Jessica!
Jess, you are full of common sense re..companion planting these are things that you leatrnasyou go!
"Not catching someone peeing in the background…." HILARIOUS! And, thanks for being real.
I know Lindsey! I work with her husband 🙂
lol Where I live in Ontario Canada. We go from -30c to +40c.
Basil is the only good companion I have found for tomatoes to keep hornworms away
I'm rewatching this is 2021! I had brassica seeds (Japanese giant red mustard and ragged jack/red Russian kale) over winter in the "polar vortex" when it got down to -20F and tons of rain and snow this winter.
At what time does does companion plant info start?
So interesting to see how much has changed on your farm in a little more than a year. Dreaming of a high tunnel.
Your sons are so cute!!! Omg!!!! Love the video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. And as a mother from the south with two boys I agree with the whole potty training thing. Lol. Boys will go anywhere lmaooooo
love your headband so much
Gonna make a t shirt that says, "BACK AWAY FROM PINTEREST…MAYBE, FOR A MINUTE."
