Growing The Best Strawberries Requires Strategy! In this video I show you how to take your spent Strawberry patch or bed or container and revamp it for maximum harvest next year.
Strawberry plants actually grow and multiply on their own, outcompeting themselves and thus outgrowing their surroundings. They must be divided and replanted every 3-5 years to keep producing their summer fruit at a high level.
This is a 2-part series with this video focusing on the division and individual planting of the Strawberry crowns, with part 2 focusing on placing the established new plants in their permanent location before the fall frosts hit.

Very informative, great video!
Hi. Aaah, When is a good time to dig the mother plant up? At the end of a harvest in spring? What about Everbearing strawberries? When would you dig them up ? ( time of year ) Good video ! I enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next video. Peace to you and yours
Sorry if I missed it but when did u actually divide the crowns? Wondering if too late here in nw Oregon, thinking we don’t see frost until late nov… the part two video I saw was obviously older since the crowns in your video were coming out of water…thx
Yeah dude! Great vid!
r u using metal pots or do they just look like it? the green, orange, and purple ones. they're very pretty. im scared of metal and plastic. ive seen lots of diff plastic containers and lots of diff colours being used in vdo's on YT and i just dk what to think, and yes i agree that at some point all food is grown in plastic. is it ok to use coloured glasses to start plants in h2o? ive been using clear glass only. i planted some celery and 2 sweet taters. ty for the links and for calling on your fellow gardeners to step up and help us newbies learn to be more self sufficient. i appreciate that you are helping humanity progress forward. what is better than that in this life dear human? nada. there is nothing greater than love. i just saw those fabric grow bags but didn't know their name! i am old, live alone w my animals and cant build beds. oh hey guess what?! i did what u suggested and made a list of the food i want to grow and I found out which USDA Hardiness Zone im in. what's next? dividing my list into seasons? any deets? links? i have so many questions lol. im sorry i dont do FB. ty
Hey Jeff, Love your channel. I have a quick question for you; My strawberry plants did great this summer but the ants kept eating them just before they could be harvested. Is there any organic way to kill the ants without harming the plants or myself? Thanks and keep the vidios coming. Chuck
I keep my strawberries in a large bucket, can I put a few crowns together into the bucket? Or should only split into multiple starting pots?
Love your videos, very informative.
I am about to take a second chance on growing strawberries. My last effort lasted about 1 week before everything on the surface died. I let it sit and a few days later some new green shoots surfaced so I let them grow and cut back on the water thinking I drowned them. Then they died too. When you water from below, do you remove them from the water once it has wicked up to the surface and then shuffle them back and forth?
I can watch this all day. I'm obsessed with trying to grow strawberries. Haha
Gorgeous plants. Thank you 🙂
LOL that strawberry OH YEAAAAAAAAh was Epic
What do you do with your strawberry plants that are in containers over the winter?
Question, Is there any other considerations in growing Strawberries when you are using the Everbearing Variety?
I've got my runners potted and they're actually surviving. I'm starting to make the raised bed and will be planting them in September.
