  1. I buy fresh eggs as much as possible and use the insta pot to make hard boiled eggs almost every week. They peel left me a dream. If I used it only for hard boiled eggs would buy again. I do 5 minutes for eggs then 5 minutes natural release. Then dunk in ice water after. I have cooked 2 dozen at a time. My supplier had the same problem as you. Found another ( hopefully) for the winter.

  2. my wife loves using her instant pot to make hard boiled eggs with her fresh eggs. this year she left bowls of cold water out overnight. it wasn't frozen solid but no need for ice. She uses the 6-6-6 method.

  3. Wow Great Job Miah!! I have table envy since I don't have a working table. And Jess I wish I could stay clean when I cook . Your kitchen is fabulous! Love the green paint on the cupboards.

  4. I avoided this because of how emotional 2020 Thanksgiving is. (I havnt seen my family for 2 years . and I MISS them. I was hoping to go back home this year for the holidays. But that's not happening.)
Didn't matter. Still made me cry.

  5. Miah is so talented when it comes to building stuff. If I lived near you I’d totally be volunteering to help with his projects in return for him teaching me how to do stuff like that. I like being able to do ‘man stuff’ like mix concrete or build stuff.

  6. I have a confession. I watch several homesteaders and I love all of them. I watch their videos the moment that they come out. But for Roots and Refuge videos I wait and watch 3-4 at the same time. BECAUSE. The entire time that I watch your videos my eyes are teary. All of the love and the warmth and the gratitude and the appreciation and joy. Your absolute love of your life that you've created for yourself, your children's idyllic childhoods, your loving relationship. It's all what I dreamed and what I imagined for myself and my family before I ever found your first video. The emotion that I feel when I'm able to watch you and to imagine my future is overwhelming. I can't watch every week because……well because that's a lot of crying. There aren't enough words to express how proud I am of you and how much hope you give me that I can achieve my goals too. Thank you for sharing your journey.

  7. Did you know you can do a lot of prep ahead of time. For example, you can peel your potatoes and keep them in cold water up to 5 days before you're going to use them. You can actually cook/bake many of your foods the day before. You can make stuffing and hold it in the fridge and then just stuff your turkey right before you put it in the oven. It's all delicious.
