How about doing a row of blueberries? It looks like it's a perfect spot since there is some pine trees near by and blueberries love acidic soil and they won't get scorched by the sun (blueberries can handle some shade as long as they get a minimum of 4 hours of sun) There are some great varieties and blueberries do so well in Oregon.
