  1. Prices here in the northeast are double than where you are. Gas, oil, propane and electric have increased a lot. Rationing everything is a great idea. Recycling clothes, get pet food, etc. Not going to get any better and be prepared! Don’t want doom and gloom but this is reality. Be prepared.

  2. In Canada we have some Grocery Stores that do scop (standard code of Practice) If the price is higher at checkout, than the price label on shelf, you will get the item free, and only one item, the rest of those items, you will be charged the lower price on the shelf. Has to be under $10 value or max you can get is $10 off. So say you buy big bag of dog food and say the price is $20.99 on the shelves, but when you checkout, say the price is $30.99, you would get a max of $10.00 off the bag of dog food, at the $20.99 price, so you are paying for that one bag of dog food $10.99 and if you have more, you will be charged $20.99 price. Quebec, it is the law. Here in Oshawa, up to the grocery retailer.

  3. Yes, prices are going up, and quantity is going down. Be smart shoppers. Only buy when on sale or at reduced price. The other week I bought Pork lions and whole chickens for $1.97lb. Beef roast sirloin $4.75 lb and another store had Eye of Round on sale for $8.00 lb. Now when you think about prices of Beef I went for the $4.75 lb sirloin. Used one of the Roast Beefs for beef stew to can. Made 7 quarts of beef stew. Cook things that has lots of vegies and less meat. These prices were cheap compared to $10 whole chicken. Beef prices are through the roof here.

  4. You know when they first introduced no name brands, they were suppose to be cheaper, than brand names. Now it seems this does not apply, always. So watch what you buy. Never assume.

  5. Ive noticed at our aldi the name brand gain dish soap is 40 cents cheaper than the aldi brand. So until ours runs out I’ve been buying one bottle a week.
We’ve had no regular sized diced tomatoes in months. We just got the bigger can organic diced tomatoes.
You got a good deal on diapers. In Ohio they’re $5.49 we’ve gotten a few for back up. Because Walmart and Kroger has been out of the sizes we need quite a few times in the last 18 months.

  6. Possible that my family is unusual. My kid was very happy to get practical stuff for Christmas. She got a few toys too. But a lot of stuff was things she needed like good quality dog brushes and a nail trimmer. (She has shown collies since age 7.) She asked for a bloat kit one year. We got the bloat kit. It was not for Christmas. That was too far even for me.
We did get things that would be useful. Last year she wanted a first aid kit, so we got her a good one. This year she's asked for a gift card for the grocery store near her college campus. She will also get a Starbucks gift card since I know she goes weekly on campus for a meet and greet with members of her community service fraternity.

What I don't get is why this seems so unusual to a lot of people

  7. I shopped my local Aldi in east central Florida and I was shocked at the prices! Yes still cheaper than most other stores but can you say sticker shock! And a few of my favorite items are not available any more like certain lunch meats, fire roasted can tomatoes. Been going to my local grocery stores and getting just some bogo's that I have coupons for! And I also like the Aldi laundry soap! Thank you for all you do!
