This may be a dumb question but how do you print your recipes without the ad covering most of it?
You are one smart, young lady, and I love watching your videos.
I guess this wouldn't work with supermarket eggs, I think they wash them.
Glad you posted this. I have spent the last few years learning more about canning and had bought pickling lime awhile back to try a version of Christmas pickles (we use to make something similar I now know isn’t safe) but after learning more about pickling lime I decided I didn’t want to chance it being left on the pickles. This was extremely helpful to hear how and why it doesn’t penetrate the egg. Thank you! We are leaning more towards some new chicks every Spring to keep us in eggs through the Winter but this is good to know in case we try it. Thanks!
I’ve been looking forward to this video!
Becky, you share so many wonderful ideas! I love your videos!
Just a quick question: was that while stuff the mix that was not dissolved?
What is the white at the bottom of the jar … is that separated lime from the water? Do you have to stir it from time to time to keep it from doing that? I had never heard of this technique before you … interesting…thanks!
Can u do this with store bought eggs?
Merry Christmas!
Pretty cool. Wonder if they change taste or anything after being in there. You’ll have to let us know
Hi! I love your channel! I love that you keep it real and don't try to put on a show. Who is the other homesteader with a youtube channel you mention watching in a lot of your videos? I would love to go watch her stuff too, but I can't remember what you said her name is.
That was interesting!
I did water glassing for the first time in the spring. We def were experiminting not knowing anyone who does this. We will do it again.
I thought "water glassing" eggs was done with water glass (a sodium silicate solution). I think I remember seeing a video of it being done that way a long time ago but my memory isn't the best lol. It's interesting how quickly our society lost practical knowledge like how to grow and preserve food. YouTube has been such a blessing to learn from!
You have a freeze dryer…. Use it.
This was A1 information.
also builders lime
Looking forward to the followup vids.
I read in multiple different areas that this should not be done with grocery store eggs. Apparently there's a difference in the shells or something like that. I don't remember the specifics. I'd do this if I had chickens. Ah, yes. The Bloom. That's what I was looking for.
You can get hydrated lime from hardware stores…Lowe's, Home Depot etc, it's in the building section… masonry I think.
Happy Christmas Eve (and Christmas) Becky! Love your videos, I can't wait to share them with my mom and grandmother when I see them tomorrow <3
Young hens will lay eggs in the winter months but they must be first time layers not yearling hens. That's why the Amish always rotate the hens. Let the hens have a clutch of chicks in the spring and they will be old enough to lay during the winter months.
That’s awesome to know.
