What is that thing you are using to get the lid off of your jars?! I did not know this was a thing and have made lots of messes get my lids off lol. Do you have a Link or at least a name?
I'm not sure if you did but if you didn't you want to rinse the quinoa two or three times because it has a coating on it that the store puts on it that makes it very bitter so if you were to rinse it two three four times it gets that bitter coating off and it will taste a lot better I was always making mine wrong until I started rinsing it and I liked it a lot better! Love your videos keep them coming LOL
Love your mistakes, this is why I also watch you.
You keep forgetting the garlic!!! Me too, all the time. Try making garlic confit; you can add it in recipes at any point and it won't have the raw taste; the oil is also delicious in dressings.
Hey Becky ! Your channel is great relaxation for me. My dad is suffering from stroke which is making me worried. Your channel is helping to deal with it. Please send your prayers for him to recover soon. Thanks.
Hi! You have to wash the quinoa before cooking! It´s very important, helps to get rid of the bitter-tasting compound (saponin).
If you don't like the texture of Mushrooms but love the flavor, all you have to do is dehydrate a bunch of mushrooms and then grind them up into mushroom powder. 🙂 A Nutra Ninja Bullet works great for doing this and any other veggies you may want to make into powder and used in any recipe you want. Or dehydrate some favorite berries, grind them up into powder and use it for flavorings in anything you like from pancakes and muffins to all kinds of drinks and smoothies.
Hey it’s either no grocery shopping or yes grocery shopping. You’re only 2 people with a huge vegetable and fruit garden.
Beautiful video! I am no expert at fermenting, but I think metal (spring-lid) hinders the natural fermentation process.
Thank you for the great content!
Just found your channel & I love it! Goals for my summer garden is to grow enough that I can do food prep for fall/winter. You are an inspiration!
Not officially joining your pantry challenge, but I am trying to eat through my pantry since I plan to move this year and don't want to transport hundreds of pounds of food with me when the time comes
One month will be easy for me but the second one might be harder, but I think I got this.
I don't like quinoa when it's cooked on its own either. I started adding a couple spoonfuls whenever I make a pot of rice and used up a bag like that.
The sauerkraut Costco sells called Wildbrine Raw Sauerkraut is really tasty! It almost has a sesame taste even though there isn't any sesame in it, so I have no idea why it tastes like that. My kids even eat it by the spoonful and they don't like other sauerkrauts. I'm all for fermenting onions though too, because that sounds like a super yummy way to get fermented veggies into our diet. What kind of fermenting lid was that you used to do yours?
Do you ever have dinner parties? what do those look like. thx!
Quinoa needs to well rinsed before it is cooked. It has a film on it that can make it taste "dirty" or "soapy" if not rinsed off.
Quinoa is great to add to soup! I have also eaten it like I do oatmeal or cream of wheat. I will add a little bit of brown sugar or maple syrup and some milk. I find I like it much more when I add it with strong flavors.
Thank you so much, your vedio give me so much calming im going through depression and suicidal because of financial issues and having new born baby to take care, watching you make me so happy.
The temperature of the kitchen makes a big difference in how long it takes something to ferment. The warmer the faster, the colder, its slowed down. But 5-7 days will probable be fine.
Love your channel Becky! You’re always so inspiring and make things seem doable. Great video!
Watching the vids puts me in a great place ,I also pulled out a freezer meal ( Turkey Tetrazzini ) winds blowing here a little hard in the Vegas/Henderson area, giving me a headache and tomorrow is the Corn Chowder I made and froze – Have a great day!
A tip for the quinoa to take away the bitter taste is to soak for about 5-10 minutes, then rinse through with a very fine strainer. You will be amazed but the taste difference.
OMG, Becky, I love that cast iron skillet!!! It's beautiful! Can u share who makes it please? Love watching you!
Its a small flower bud that is pickled from a caper bush.yummy
When will you make videos on gardening..
Hands down my fav you tuber. Thank for being you. Ive Been a stay at home mom for 3 years now and you have taught me so much in a few months. We cook together every day btw lol. This will be my 3rd garden season! Cant wait to see yours this year Yay!!! God bless. You are a Gem!
You should have rinced quinoa before cooking it. That's why you didn't like the flavor.
