VIDEO: Attempting The Impossible (For A 💐Farmer)

Summer on our flower farm, is a busy place. We don’t work all the time, but between tending to the farm, harvesting and arranging bouquets, keeping up with the roadside stand, selling at Farmers Markets, or editing and filming these vlogs, we work almost all the time. We recognize the need for some work life balance during the busy season, so this week we want to attempt the impossible, and take a day off to take the family downtown for some summer holiday festivities. The problem with taking time off as an entrepreneur, is that you still have to watch over your business, and make sure the work is all done, so we will have to grind through a Thursday night bouquet making session to free up our Friday. Can we get everything done in time for some time off? You will have to watch to find out! If you like this video, give it a thumbs up and leave a comment down below.

  1. Do you have flowers for weddings? I’d go nuts! My grandma put a love in my heart for flowers and planting zinnia, marigolds. But a whole farm of them is like Heaven to me. I was a teacher but I should have done what you are doing.

  2. All your flowers look amazing one day I hope to make such great and beautiful flower bouquets. May I ask the variety of snapdragons you used in your arrangements.?? They are stunning!

  3. Looks like you spelled "transfer" wrong on the sign in your roadside stand. (Sorry for being THAT person to point it out). I've loved watching your farm grow over the years, and I'm so glad to see you both take a day off and enjoy the holiday. You both work so hard, you deserve some fun :). Cheers from the lower mainland!

  4. For your aphid issues, you already know you need some aphids for your predators. However, you can keep the pest pressure down and maybe limited to just a few plants in a bunch of plants by spraying your plants with water and dislodge the aphids. Start doing this when you notice a problem. It will keep the aphids down and allow you to use most of your plants. Water sprays works on a lot of pest problems. It makes the pests expend energy to climb back up, which helps keep their numbers down. Just try to keep some pest groups for your predators. Maybe an edge of your bed? It depends on how many plants you can spare. Maybe do that for the plants you want to go to seed?

  5. WOW! At 9 minutes 35 seconds your snap dragons look so full and healthy!!! I love your bouquets! Blessings! And the music running through the video is so perfect!!! May God continue to give you consistent big sales because your flowers are Exquisite!!!
