Love seeing the progress on the orchard. I will have to try the pit swales for my orchard I started this year. It has a good slope. I was thinking of just doing a small channel in front of the mulch but the pit may be better. Thanks for the idea!

What happened with the permaculture course you had started?
Are you going to underplant the trees with other plants? I can imagine they might need more protection from the ducks/geese but it would be really beautiful

I think the idea is to plant companion plants or “guild” plants between the fruit trees on the berm

We just planted 12 trees with using this method. Im excited to see the progress with your project.
Y’all may take a look at key line plowing although it is usually used on steeper terrain.
Aside from planting grafted varieties, don’t be afraid to save some of those grocery store peach pits, apple seeds, etc. and toss those into the mix. It’s a game of roulette but that’s how new varieties are formed!
