With winter looming, the clock is ticking and some growers are a bit apprehensive about starting new crops at this time. Will there be enough time? Will the crops be able to take the cold for long enough to produce? Will I even get a harvest?

My prizm kale is shooting out green leaves…no bugs either. I thought I was growing acorn squash but they're not turning dark green so it looks like the sweet dumpling variety. Never had them nor do I know when to harvest them. Oh, my volunteer Picklers on my front porch have 3 spiny babes on them. We're warm/80'sF right now…but MT will probably have a super snow this winter. Any advice would help me get prepared. As always, I appreciate every thing you relay to us no matter our gardening knowledge. Cheers, ~ Covah

Thanks, I totally agree!! Thank goodness for the end of my squash bug problems/war!!! I seeded a late crop spaghetti squash, zucchini, and blue Hubbard squash (in late August) and they have been able to set fruit so I will be able to enjoy them!!! I'm going to rethink doing a spring planting of those next year and maybe wait till late summer/fall again. Will save me the constant battle!! Happy gardening and have a wonderful day!!
