  1. Interesting. First time I’ve heard about red spinach.
Here in Appalachia we get wild spinach which is similar in shape to the red spinach but it’s very mild.
    They call it lambsquaters

  2. Staple vegetable dish to have with red boiled rice in south west coast of India. Add grated coconut for taste while cooking. The stem is also nutritious. Thanks for the great content!

  3. Well, I've learned a couple things today. Spinach is part of the amaranth family! I did not know that! Always grateful to anyone who teaches me something! Thank you Mark!

  4. Okay… there is red spinach? I am sad now.
I grew up in Germany and my grandma had her own vegetable garden and we had all sorts of stuff including purple Kohlräbchen. Soo yummy.
Nowadays we all buy our veggies at the supermarket and they only sell those kinds that keep longer and look good. I read a BBC article saying how modern fruit and veg has a lot less vitamins as we selectively bred them for their other features.
It makes me so sad that we cannot experience yummy veggies if we do not have our own garden. Sadly, I cannot grow anything here but that would be my dream: my own garden.

  5. My Korean MiL makes spinach soup often and recently she used red spinach instead and it was SO much more flavourful than usual. I was stunned!
