  1. Thank again James, excellent video and your idea not to have it attached to the steel bed and thanks for the build list & links. Looking forward to my first garden in ages! Bought a few tools that I've always wanted and now have some great ideas in which to use them, again thanks! And always enjoy little buddy Tuck it's so cool to watch him chose then dig his own veggie treats, I think his birthday is in April so Happy Birthday Tuckster (Apr 2021 in Oregon) Hope we get to see you, Tuck & the Food Forests soon : )

  2. I got a birdies bed this year and have already planted some stuff. It hold more than you think. I did cover with a sheet on the nights calling for frost, but was wondering about a bug net and how I could do it. This helps. Thanks.

  3. I’ve found a clear plastic tote place over top of the raised bed to be more practical than a mini hoop house as they are cheaper, easier to use, more, durable, and are better for long term use

  4. Hello again……..Suggestions here please…..just offering
    1. Make the long sides where the hinges goes full length……This will allow hinge to screw to the cross grain of the 2×4 for strength (screwing to end grain will weaken quickly)
    2. Using the long side all the way across allows the pvc caps to also be attached with a cross grain , not on the end of the 2×4….consider a small washer on screw holding pvc caps to 2×4 for added strength
    3. With your larger beds additional cross brace instead of electrical tape to hold in place screw them from the inside into the hoop section.
    4. great idea with weatherstripping
Love your channel and your energy is contagious

  5. Great stuff! I hope to get to visit one day! Question: in regards to the storms that have occurred here (I’m in DE), have you built any wind barriers to protect you beds?

  6. Hello James,
The clarity of your videos are great! Wanted to see what camera you use and lens as well? Would like to get the same setup for video one day. Thanks for your time.

  7. Hey James, consistently good info, thank you as always.
FYI a game changer for me (I used wood for EVERYTHING because its fun to work with, but was tired of dealing with the decay/rebuild cycle) was finding EMT pipe. GREAT for hoops!

  8. Hi James! Great Video! I am started my first raised bed this year thanks to your videos! I am trying to build a hoop house for it its an 4×8 composite bed 16.5in high. Going to try this method to make the hoop house but I don't know if I can make the hoops taller so my tomatoes can fit inside, they are about 6ft tall! Any tips on how to go about it?

  9. I like this idea to extend the length of your crops, but I would suggest building a right engle instead of a dome just because you are limiting yourself in height at the edges being the dome – any thought on that idea?
