Onions form the bedrock of many culinary creations. You can eat them fresh, but if you want to store some to use later on you’ll need to harvest and dry them correctly.
Onions need to be thoroughly cured so that they can be kept in storage for weeks or even months without developing storage rots.
In this short video we explain exactly how to harvest and prepare your bulbs for storage so you can enjoy your homegrown onions right through the winter.

Can stringed onions be hung in a warm patio shelter?
Thank you
Excellent video. Concise, informative, great format. You taught me how to process and store my onions this summer. Thank you!
I planted white onion sets this spring near Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and experienced exceptional results. As a novice gardener (first year) I was lacking in knowledge regarding preservation and storage… thank you for all your suggestions and tips!
Brilliant thanks
Love the onion string idea. I’m going to use it now in 2021!
Gonna make a string thanks for sharing
My kind of guy!! Straight to the point. No unnecessary blabbing.
I accidentally found out that if you put sweet onions in the refrigerator; still in the plastic bag from the grocery, and just wait about 3 months with the onion in the bag in the vegetable crisper…
…it will grow soft in the middle and CHIVES will grow out of the TOP!!!!
Thank you.
The onions in stores do not. Comes with such a tail. You should also think about people who live in the city and want to preserve food.
Informative and to the point. Great videos thank you. It’s nice to be able to reference such succinct videos when you’re out in the garden.
