We forgot to mention something important! You allow your infusion to sit for 6 WEEKS out of the sun before straining the flowers out and using the oil! Check it occasionally and make sure the flowers or herbs are still covered in oil, as they can soak them up and begin poking out. If thats the case, just add a little more oil on top!
I would love to see you go out in the "wild" and show people what flowers you can eat! There are so many on the roadsides that aren't chemically sprayed that you can make herbal concoctions with. God/Creator gave us all we needed to "heal from within"! We have lost so much knowledge and so many beneficial plants due to "weed eradication ". My great grandma who was a Cherokee healer said "PLANTS WILL FOLLOW YOU". When you are seeing a lot of a certain plant around you, stop and find out what it's purpose is, and I guarantee it will aide you in whatever is ailing you!
I have found using olive oil leaves a horrendous smell at the end of the infusion process. Does anyone else have this problem? Would you say it is spoiled? Because of the smell I tend to use something else (like almond oil, etc..). Is the bad smell normal?
I'm planning to use avocado oil for my infusions because as far as I know, it doesn't go rancid the way olive oil can. I read that it's shelf stable for a long time. Anyone else here use avocado oil? I'm planning to make healing slaves with it and herbs from my garden and I'm curious as to how the avocado oil feels on the skin and if it absorbs easily or stays really greasy. TIA!

All those plants,,like plantain, etc. should be dried first before oil placed over them, correct?

I would be interested to see you harvest your herbs. The calangila had large seeds , did you dry the seeds along with the flower head? And how do you know your infusion was successful?

I am really slack on this as I have lovely herbs in my garden I can easily infuse as it's about as easy to do as fall out of a tree 😀 My Lavender is coming into its second bloom so am waiting to pick those, as well as my Rosemary bush. I will definitely plant Calendula next Spring, but now concentrating on late summer harvests and planting

I use fractionated coconut oil that remains as a liquid….works beautifully!
I’ve always called it calendula the same as you! I never even imagined that people would call it calendula (the other way)lol but I’m from northern Indiana.
Do you need to dry all herbs before infusing them or can you infuse them fresh? I'm thinking of mint in particular…

Interesting and informative video, thank you for sharing. I don't know much of anything about infusing oils. I've heard some about using herbs but then I've also heard people fussing and worrying about botulism when infusing oils. Hm…i don't know but I might give oils for skin care a try. Thanks!
