  1. Last spring I saw when you received some of your seed starting supplies. I thought you said the order was from Baker Creek. I went to their web page I was looking for some strong bottom trays for my starter plants. I'm no computer wiz or their web page is very crude but I could not find anything like those heavy duty ones you had. Please help. Mike mislandmike@hotmail.com Thanks

  2. Growing up, my grandfather converted an old broken down care into a greenhouse and it was outrageously effective. Makes a great place to start seeds if you're in a pinch.

  3. Like you, I was trying to direct-sow all of the plants that it was recommended for, but we have a lot of potato bugs that kept gobbling up our little starts! We watched a YouTube video that recommended planing out starts when they are four-to-five inches tall when potato bugs are an in issue, and by golly, it worked!
Those trays look very sturdy! Is it challenging to get the starts out, though? It seems like it would be tricky if the pots were less flexible.

  4. Peppers, in particular, need warmer temperatures to germinate. Even an LED grow light is enough to warm the soil enough to germinate peppers in my house, which, of course, is between 67 and 75 degF. I've never needed to use a heat mat as long as I am using LED lights.

  5. I think we live pretty close to the same zone. I live right on I40 west of OKC in ElReno.
The weather has been interesting this year..lol.
Getting new raised beds built with a home made greenhouse that can be collapsed.
Can't wait to put my seedlings in the ground.

  6. For your viewers. If you feel the need to seed might I suggest you start some Micro Toms. They can be planted in pots and grown inside. This will feed your urge and you will get tomatoes also. There are also dwarf cukes you can grow also in pots. Also if you don't have a heat mat place your tray on top of the frig. Works great. Hope it helps.

  7. I am all about pushing the boundaries. When I am told I can't I try. I brought in all my peppers plants 2 years ago and overwintered them. I planted them out in the garden late May and had my first red pepper in late June. Normally August in 4a. Who knew you could overwinter peppers. I now have 3 year old pepper plants still going strong.

I transplant EVERYTHING. Corn, carrots, beets. I winter sow everything and am not afraid to transplant anything.

Just try. The most I am out is a few seeds.

  8. I started my seeds inside without a light or mat. So far so good. we are at the point in the season where we get warmmmmm days but still get chilly days. I leave my tomatoes and peppers on my window sill when its cold out and put them outside when its warm and sunny. so far so good. I also started some broccoli and left that outside under a clear shower curtain as a "greenhouse"

  9. Just ordered your limited edition Garden planner!!!!! I started different seedlings using a 72 cell tray and as they are germinating at different times I am wondering if it would be better to use the 6 or 9 pack trays especially when it comes to having to get things in the garden. I already have dahlias (why in the world did I start these so early???!!!) that are going to need potting up and am afraid I might be messing up accidently smaller plants just sprouting. Do you have any tips or ideas as to what is better – THanks! Love your channel!
