What Are Strawberry Runners And What Should We Do With Them? Most Strawberry mother plants send out several runners (stolons) every spring/summer. These runners are akin to a tomato sucker and are a vegetative offshoot of the main plant that’s trying to become a plant on its own. This is great and all, and a fantastic way to expand your Strawberry patch for free….however, they take energy away from the main plant.
In this video we explain exactly what Strawberry runners are and what to look for. As well, I show you how I extract the runners to make new plants and the strategies behind Strawberry runner management.

What do I plant now? Zone 1. California.
No. Ca. Growing zone 9 or 9B. I grow or try to grow Albion strawberry. They are so tart What fertilizer do you use?
One of my strawberry plants has three runners!
Do you cut the runners off if you don't see any roots on them Are do you wait till you see little roots on the runners then cut them off of the mother plant to pot them up
Because my orange plant is dying
I started my strawberries from seeds. I noticed the leaves had brown on them so I cut them off. How do I get them to produce more leaves. There are new leaves developing but there’re tiny and taking a long time to grow back. I have them in soil and indoors
That was very helpful. Thank you. How do I turn my backyard garden into a farm with little to no money? All done my hand tools.
Hi there! Love the videos, but I have some questions. We planted strawberries in a planter and they have grown quite nicely. Have many runner that I have clipped and need to clip more. The problem is that I have no blooms! Am I doing something wrong?

Hi. I watched the three “care” videos. Awesome job. I have a tiny planting that has been going for a couple years. This season after one harvest they kinda went south. Then recovered but no flowers. Now y’all and leggy with now runners. Do you think they need something to eat?
Just planted my first ever runner this afternoon, and its looking pretty droopy, does it maybe need more water? (The soil is fairly wet but not overly wet) or is that just normal until the roots grow out a little bit? (It had like 4 or 5 root nodules)
job for tomorrow 🙂
I bought a potted strawberry plant and it's been such a rewarding experience caring for it. I just cut off and replanted some runners and I tripled my strawberry patch
Very informative. Thanks for the info. I had a ton of runners, about to go clip them off nkw
Thank you for the video. My strawberry plants leaves have red color under their leaves. And new leaves are brown even in the early stage? What should I do . It's in indoor
