VIDEO: Skylight project
Replaced a skylight this week. Building methods are a bit different than I know but got it worked out. Saved a bunch of money doing it myself.

Description:
I have always been a very independent person. It boggles my mind how someone could be satisfied being totally dependent on a system, a government or another person. To me, for an adult to be totally dependent is the equivalency of slavery. My life is simple. I do not need the intricate technology that marketing “experts” have convinced so many that they must have and neither does anyone else. There is nothing wrong with technology. After all, I have a computer. However, there is something very wrong with allowing yourself to become a slave to it. If one wants to be free one must return to the basics and one must, once again, think for themselves. You will find videos made by myself and playlists consisting of videos from others to help you become self sufficient. I am also re-learning. I forgot much over the years. Please comment on my videos so I will know if I have helped. Please comment, add info and send video responses.

Got back from Vacation yesterday evening. Spent a week in Mallorca Spain. Now to see what has happened with the garden in my absence.
Just a little of whats going on. Shots of a little of what we have harvested so far. Eaten loads more.
Rain this year is coming way too often. A few days of sunshine then a week of rain and low temps. Showing a few projects as well.
Part 2 Just showing what I have going. Recovering from health problems, catching up on projects as well as job search forced me to hold back on my garden this year. In spite of that it appears I have more than I thought or even intended.
First installment of what our garden is looking like. I reduced my ambitions for the garden this as I am still recovering from the long illness but mostly because I have several other projects that absolutely must be done.
Back on our other property. Looking at three volunteers. A Schwetzgen purple plum, a Mirabella plum and the wild roses wanted for the rose hips. Trying to get things cleaned up and reorganized after my long illness prevented work.
Reunited with my oldest friend after 37 years
This week I am harvesting my cherries and pruning the tree. Some of the cherries will be used for jams to last us the year and maybe some juice. The rest will be used to distill Schnapps. Not necessarily for drinking. I am not big on drinking but I do find the quality of alcohol…
A little on the progress this year. A bad potting mix has set me back. Will be re-potting some things with my original mixture of compost and manure. Also a bit on a cherry harvest and tree pruning.
Part 2 of garden progression and planning.
Walk through of half of the Garden beginnings and it’s progression.
Video on the work at home will come later but for now I am resuming work at the property away from home
Finally began bed prep on the separated properties. Slow but started. Finishing the grow room video I started last week. This time with the positive stuff.
The weather has not cooperated this year. Not really a surprise. The grow room has had disasters and successes. It has only served to convince me that I must concentrate on developing a small greenhouse for propagation purposes.
The seedlings in the grow room are doing well but have had a few losses. The garden now has been prepared with lots of compost dug in. The faster growing warm weather crops such as beans and squash will be started next week.
Just about ready to get more set out. I have a pepper problem I hope someone can help with.
This video will self destruct after a few days. Not the type of video I want to leave up long.

I’ve been trying to grow okra for the past 2 years in a northern climate. The first year was a disaster. Last year I got healthy plants but not much produce. This year looks like I may have better success. For the most part I do not try to grow plants that are not native…
Starting the 2017 garden season. It is slow going but will pick up speed. So far we have peas and beets in the ground and a few broccoli seedlings to first test out the cold frame.
The rainwater collection point needed rebuilding.
A simple install turns into a nightmare!
Had not planned on making a third video for this subject of beginning gardening but a few comments on the other two and prepping for this years garden brought to mind a couple more
These tips are given with the understanding that one knows they must think for themselves. No one is going to find the Holy Grail in one video. If you have a question then ask in the comments. If I do not know the answer I bet I know someone who does.
