If it's a tree swallow those things can eat roughly 2000 flies a day. A pair with a brood can catch up to 6000 a day!
It is in martin family!!!!!
Swallow. You can tell the difference between the tree swallow and the purple Martin or blue swallow by the white belly. Build a community for them! http://www.treeswallowprojects.com/buildbox.html
Many have ID'd as a Tree Swallow correctly. The most amazing aspect of this bird besides the awesome "paint job" it has on it's body is the
beautiful nest it makes. Every one I have up here in South East Massachusetts have a feather or feathers that cover the eggs. They remind me of the wealthy ladies of the upper class hats they wore to society gatherings. It may be too late to peek now if the eggs have hatched,
so you should wait to see. Try "googleing" tree swallow nest to see what I mean.
Keep up the great work Mark!
A swallow was also my first guess…
It looks very similar to sea and barn swallows iv seen
The color on top and the shape of the head is correct but their bellies are darker
Possibly a Tachycineta
It's a pretty bird, who is trying to pick up another bird with his whistles and a home. He got kicked out of his own home for whistling after another bird.
I think it might be a Penguin, but not to sure if they go to your area.
It looks like what my mom called a purple swallow they are amazing in flight they are
They catch a big bug and the wings will be left fluttering down to the pond
That's one beautiful swallow, … I would be building a dozen of those bird house's …. your lucky that you have them …
Simply…….. beautiful.
beautiful bird. Thank you for sharing.
Download the Merlin app to your smart phone for bird identification. It's published by Cornell University. Before you put up too many nest boxes too close together, research the proper spacing for the birds you're aiming to attract. Many are territorial. You will also have to learn to identify the house sparrow and prevent them from nesting in your boxes. They are non-native and kill the native songbirds that we need. Bird boxes come with added responsibilities for you and are very rewarding.
in german it’s called Schwalbe
3k to 4k bugs eaten a day!? Each pair.
Per Greg Judy we line our property with tree swallow houses for pasture fly control.
Looks like a swift to me
That is the rare and beautiful Eastern Tuxedo Flamingo. They mainly eat armadillos and popsicles.
Here in mid-coast Maine, Tree Swallows like to nest in my bluebird houses. They circle overhead grabbing insects while in flight to feed their young.
Not here in Nevada. Although we do have many amazing birds, both native and passing through. Pelicans are native!
Looks like a swallow Mark, they usually build there nest underneath the "eves "or "overhang "of a building. They love to eat mosquitoes.
First pair in my yard sighted today!!! Excitement abounds!!!
yeah…. lovely…. still using the music!!!
swallow for sure..
Here we have a street where they let em nest under the roofs, Dorpsstraat in oudkarspel… water behind the houses is where they thrive.. and boy o boy in the summer with the cano when gliding silently through the water they sometimes nearly mis my head cause of they catching flying insects.. very agile birds
I can send pictures in conversation with the house roof owners so they be legit as can be… pictures of real nests under the roofskirts.. so u can get ur birdie urban culture knowlege
