Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

  1. This has been so interesting. I’ve always wanted to try a dragon fruit, but I’ve never seen one. It would be great to grow one, but I live in the U.K. so not sure how easy it would be.

  2. I had a dragon fruit in a large pot which I put in a place where it got at least 6 hours of sunlight, and yet it got scorched/burnt although I made sure the soil always had enough moisture balance. I had to move it to a shade because some of the stalks started to turn yellow. What was happening? Can you explain, please? Thank you in advance.

  3. Thanks for another great video mark. Just picked up my first dragon fruit tree from Facebook mafket place for free. Got a project ahead of me this weekend setting it up. Lucky I can always rely on you for some great info.
