Hey ya’ll, I’m Jess from Roots & Refuge Farm

Welcome to a place that feels like home. A small farm with a big family. We hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab some coffee and visit awhile.

There was a time that all I wanted in the world was a little farm where I could raise my family and grow our food. Now, that is exactly what exists outside my door. In watching it unfold, a new dream was formed in my heart – to share this beautiful life with others and teach them the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Welcome to our journey, friend. I am so glad you’re here.

  1. Hi Jess, Mike and I really enjoy watching your channel. The mushroom looks good. Mike has been doing lot's of cooking on our channel now that the weather is cooling. Our fall garden is doing well and we will be harvesting through December, this Texas weather. Many blessings to your family, Rochelle.

  2. tell will he has to change his story if he starts sayin he is goin to find chicken of the woods real soon n i c several spots of chicken of the wood im so excited for the chicken in the woods i keep finding r talk is uber important as we r creating the reality we want so if he wants mushrooms he has to start sayin n feelin n talkin n thinkin mushrooms all around him so many sources he has to share them with u hahah n if u start manifesting with him its double the energy goin to it so it will happen right quick 🙂

  3. Is it possible there isn’t enough “wild” food (eg. mice, etc) to feed the cats you brought in? I supplement the diet of a “catch & release” cat in a suburban neighborhood in which a cat was left on his own to survival – and he was starving until I provided food & shelter. I’m definitely not suggesting this is true at your farm, but too many people think an animal can just survive in the wild with their natural instincts. Not so.

  4. I think Jess (Roots and Refuge Farm) should be on the following podcasts as a future guest:
    1) Wise Traditions
    2) Food Talk with Dani Nierenberg
    3) Feed: A Food Systems Podcast
    4) Biophilic Solutions: Nature Has The Answers
    5) EconTalk
    6) Ancestral Kitchen

  5. I did a mushroom course a year or so ago and the guy teaching told me that if you eat any mushroom raw then you are not benefiting from the nutritional benefits. Apparently all mushrooms have to be cooked to get the nutritional value.
