I am really working hard on trying to grow as much of our own food as possible! One way I am working on that is by growing tea. In this video I harvest, dry, and taste test fig leaf tea for the first time! I was shocked to find out that fig leaf tea is AMAZING and it tastes like figs. Fig leaf tea is supposed to help with blood sugar levels as well which is always a plus!

  1. I do love using as many parts of a plant as possible. I DO want to warn people though, that fig leaves and sap are a very common skin irritant. It contains a phytotoxin that can cause actual burns on sensitive people , when exposed to the leaves and sap, and then sunlight. It can be extraordinarily painful and itchy, so just be aware when in the fig tree, getting skin exposure to the leaves. I have to wear gloves and a long-sleeve shirt to pick my figs. .

  2. I didn`t know you could use fig leaves. Now I`m on the hunt for fig leaves recipes 🙂 Thank you for sharing all your recipes and knowlegde on this channel. Greetings from Austria

  3. I would love to have a tea garden someday! That is even more awesome though that you were able to make it from a plant that also produces other things!

  4. wow!!!! I had no idea about fig leaves uses!!!! Love this! will be buying one for my garden now 😀 Also in the spirit of using parts of the plant, I once made a great carrot top pesto

  5. YouTube recommended your channel to me recently! It’s my dream to have a garden of my own one day but alas I am only 20 and have many years of education ahead of me (hoping to get a PhD in microbiology and genetics ) just wanted to say that you have such an effortless way speaking on camera, it feels so much like a real conversation! Wonderful to see your channel grow and can’t wait to see more 🙂

  6. I use most of my Alma figs for Fig bread throughout the year. Chopped up and frozen in my food saver bags. Everyone loves it. Going to have to try the tea!

  7. You are living my literal dream! I've always wanted to have my own tea garden! I will have to check out the fig tea blends you recommended, my wife's diabetic and anything that helps her keep her blood sugar under control is it important! Sent this to my MIL as well because she is also diabetic and the real gardener of the family. Can't wait to see more tea blends especially now that colder weather is here!!
