Shot this video over a week ago. Too many tasks, too little time and no help whatsoever. Many surprises over the last 5 months that have pushed many things over the edge. I will not be able to plant half of what I intended this year for several reasons. Quite frankly, I am tired and…
I’ve been asked, often, about the political system here. Today is election day so now is a good time. Here is why a “multiparty” system probably isn’t the answer.
The orchard garden is a bit behind like everything else this year.
Permaculture Garden update, 5/20/14
Way behind this year. Showing a little of what I’ve got and a few space saving methods I am trying. Also need help identifying a problem with my Yacon.
Got a few things set out in the garden. Discussing how history, events and their effects have shaped our situation today. Please take the time to watch the attached video. It does a much better job of explaining the progression of historical events than I can at the moment and I see no sense in…
Some have asked a bit of where I live. I walked through yesterday and shot this video for you.
Speaking of some experiences from many years ago that I strongly believe relate to world events today. This video went longer than I wanted. I will be doing a few other videos to expound. My intent is to get people to think in broader terms. Look at past events that I personally experienced, the immediate…
Direction change due to injury for the next few weeks.
Looking in on the new worm beds to see if they’re happy and migrating.
Seedling progress and a few odd things. Maybe someone can give a bit of insight. At the end I describe how I made a wicking container.
Visited a nursery located in an old walled location dating likely back to the middle ages. There are many such places here. Link to info on Sea Buckthorn ( appears to require both male and female plants http://www.seabuckthorninsider.com/
Harvesting worm compost and starting a new bin with Horse manure.
Just a little of what is going on at the home garden.
Progress on my bio char trials at 14 days.
Some people plant by the signs of nature. This year, for me at least, the signs of nature are a bit confusing. We have items coming up that are normal for this time of year but there are fewer than normal. Other items are early yet would be normal for the higher temperature ranges we’ve…

My grow station is being built a little at a time. I expect in the next two weeks to have it fully operational and full. My worm farm has produced an unbelievable amount of worms in the last few days.
Children are wonderful. Adults would do well to listen to them more often.
Got the manure. More than I expected at one time but less than I will need. No worries, I’m acquainted with the factory owner.
A little update on the property. Weather has been unusually good. Threw me off actually as I had planned on rebuilding several things in the house during the time that we normally have heavy snows. So…. instead, the last few months have been filled with reorganization on a daily basis.
Testing the three elements I plan to use for the potting mix for the biochar trials. Peat, compost/potting soil and worm castings mixed with biochar. I am also testing the worm castings without biochar as well.

Starting the 2014 season. Here I am showing the growth of the Yacon over the past week and what appears to be positive results of my attempt to root some wild rose cuttings. I’ve started some onion seed and made an indoor seed starting station. Still needs a bit of work. Link to Thumperlane Homestead’s…
The Yacon is beginning to show itself. Trying to root some wild rose cuttings for rose hips and discussing my view of contentment as part of the self sufficient mentality.
Update on my experimental worm farm and a mention of the Bio-char trials being conducted by OneYardRevolution. The worms appear quite happy but I am concerned that it may be to wet. The worms have increased more than six fold since the beginning. As it is my first time attempting this I am not sure…
